HEMEL HEMPSTEAD - Richmond Flames are in the National League final after beating regular season league leaders London Mets in an 8-2 win. After dispatching Bracknell in the early game they no have to wait to see who they will face in Sunday's final as Mets and Bracknell play a winner take all match on Sunday morning.
The Flames started out well in a somewhat sloppy and eventful first inning that saw Mets 1B Williams ejected from the game as the Flames scored two before taking the field in the bottom half. After 3 innings the Flames had added another run as Martin Visser scored on an error, but a solo homer Richmond's only error on the day had the score 3-2 two Richmond going into the 4th. Cook, Manchino and Cain would all score to give the Flames a 4 run lead, which would be all Michael Osborn on the mound would need. With 6 strike outs, 3 walks and only one earned run, Osborn kept the Mets in check through six innings before George Naumczik came in for the final inning.
Carlos Manchino had a good game at the plate for the Flames. He went 2-for-4, scored three runs and drove in one run. Manchino singled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning.
With the Flames in the National League final and the Knights in the AA Final, Richmond could make tomorrow historic if they win two championships. The Knights play Leicester Blue Sox at noon and the Flames will play at 15.30.
