Big Changes Ahead of 2012 Season

Richmond Baseball Club will emerge refreshed and ready ahead of the 2012 British baseball season, but things may look a little bit different. Major changes in club personnel over the off-season have led to the club re-assessing the adult team structure.

The most significant change for this year is the withdrawal of the Flames from the National Baseball League, the highest calibre division in British Baseball. With Club Coach Freddy Vibert moving on to pastures new the club felt it was unable to sustain a team able enough to compete in this most challenging of divisions. The club are wholly committed to seeing the Richmond Flames return to NBL action in the near future however and hope it won't be too long before national titles are rolling Richmond's way once more.

The loss of the Flames has not it seems had any impact on player recruitment however. The club has enjoyed record numbers of rookie participants attend winter indoor training and in order to fairly accommodate them the Richmond Dukes have been formed to compete in the A Division. It is hoped that the Dukes will provide a strong and competitive environment for new players to learn the game and develop their skills.

Elsewhere around the club things remain unchanged with the Richmond Knights entering the AAA league and the Dragons staying put in AA.
